Kongso River
Kangshi River is a river in Sherpur, Mymensingh, Netrokona and Sunamganj districts in the northeast of Bangladesh. The length of the river is 228 kilometers, the average width is 95 meters, and the nature of the river is spiral. Origin of the river at Garo Hills near Turah, on the east side of Shillong Plateau of India. After flowing south from source, entering Nalitabari upazila headquarters in the northern part of Jamalpur district about 16 km north of Bangladesh. From there it flows eastwards and joins the river Someswari.The combined stream of Kanga and Someshwari is known as the Baulai River. On the river, the river flows over Phulpur, Nalitabari, Haluaghat, Dhobaura, Purbadhala, Sardarargapur, Netrokona Sadar, Barhatta, Mohonganj and Dharmapasha upazilas.The length of the river is 225 km, width 165 meters, depth 11.5 (in the Zaria region). The size of the river basin is 1126 sq km. Due to tidal effects, the river is usually not flooded in the rainy season. Water Development Board has a RubberDem project in the river basin.
